How many parties have you thrown for your landscaping company?
It’s always great to have a happy customer; nobody can deny that! But it seems that there should be a new word created to encapsulate the greatness behind a customer who was so happy, she actually threw a party for her landscaping company. Today we have the story of Ms. Stevens and the realization of her Complete Outdoor Oasis.
Mark Sanford, one of our talented Landscape Consultants, recently helped tackle Ms. Stevens’ backyard endeavor. It was a large project, requiring a total rework of her backyard space. Mark’s first step was to sit down with our in-house design team to analyze exactly how Ms. Stevens wanted to go about marrying her backyard lot to her existing swimming pool area.
The endgame goal was to combine Ms. Stevens’ already present pool area and a small yard into a grand urban outdoor garden and kitchen experience. With this goal in mind, a Master Plan was created with the help of our design team and the foundation for the entire project was in place.
The stonework around Ms. Stevens’ swimming pool, known as custom Oklahoma stone, worked perfectly with her vision for the soon-to-be repurposed lot behind her house. We connected the sections of yard by first matching the stonework around the pool, then expanding that stonework out to create a patio.
With the patio joining the two yards, it was time to begin the total renovation of the back lot. There was a lot of work to be done, namely tearing out all of the bricks acting as the lawn.
It was here that Ms. Stevens wanted her new outdoor experience to really come together. This area was completely transformed to include a greenhouse, an ergonomic above-ground vegetable garden, multiple patios, a fire pit/water feature, an actual lawn, irrigation for said lawn and perennial rock gardens using native Texas plants.
And there you have it! From what was once two separate yards (one of which was comprised almost entirely of bricks) came a fully functional vegetable garden with a greenhouse, outdoor kitchen, water feature and multiple patios. Ms. Stevens’ yard is not only beautiful, but provides function with its form, exactly what you should expect from a Complete Outdoor Oasis.
