Creating a Texas Sized Outdoor Oasis

They say things are bigger in Texas, and we have to agree! Case in point: our latest pool project entails the custom creation of a Texas-sized outdoor oasis.

What does that look like? For this particular client, we’ll be building a custom pool complete with a lazy river and outdoor kitchen—we aren’t joking when we say we deliver the COMPLETE package.

However, a Lonestar state sized project requires time, planning, and the supervision of seasoned professionals and at Complete Landsculpture we provide all of the above. We invite you to follow along as this massive project unfolds over the next few months.

Project Schedule

We’ll be laying out the process step by step so you can get an inside look at everything from the scope of projects we can handle as well as what to expect should you elect to have something similar installed.

Although every project and client are unique, there are a few constants across every pool design, construction, and installation and we believe giving you a behind the scenes look at this project will shed some light on the aspects you should anticipate.

Because this plan has a lot of different design elements and purposes, a well-thought-out plan is imperative.

To give you a rough idea of how we’ll be handling this outdoor oasis here’s a breakdown of the steps starting now in April and continuing throughout summer.

  • Shooting gunite for the pool
  • Laying foundation
  • Pool deck & retaining wall construction
  • Building outdoor structure/cabana
  • Landscape/softscape
  • Pool filled with water/startup

Of course, any pool project, no matter the size, will include more than six steps, but the bullet points above provide a solid and simple timeline to follow.

Today we’ll walk you through the process of shooting gunite, what it means, and how it will get the ball rolling on pool installations.

Gunite Pools and Why They’re A Good Choice

If you’ve ever spent more than 5 minutes googling backyard pools, you’ve likely come across the term “gunite,” but just because you’ve seen, it doesn’t mean you fully understand it.

We’re here to explain! Gunite is just a concrete blend of sand, cement, and water that’s applied through a high-pressure hose or “gun.”

We love gunite because it offers unmatched flexibility and quality aesthetic when it comes to your pool design and construction.

When you think about the construction of your pool, gunite will be one of the early players.

Essentially we’ll dig up a large hole, install a network of steel bars (aka rebar), and then spray this gunite blend at a high velocity creating the pool walls and floor.

Built to Last

Gunite pools are a popular option for many reasons, including:

  • Versatile for design
  • Durable for longevity
  • Utilizes a stable, steel-reinforced structure

Each of these aspects will ensure your pool is as beautiful as it is sturdy and reliable so that you can enjoy your outdoor oasis for years to come!

We hope this quick explanation gave you some good insight into the beginning stages of the pool planning and installation process.
