Job Summary
The Irrigation Foreman is responsible for working as a team member under the direct supervision of the Irrigation Manager. The foreman is responsible for executing irrigation installation system; in an efficient manner, promote worksite safety, providing excellent customer service, and exhibit pride and quality workmanship.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry 50 pounds of material or equipment.
- Ability to stand, kneel and/or bend for a long period of time.
- Ability to withstand exposure to outside weather conditions: humidity, rain, hot and cold temperatures.
- Ability to see with or without corrective aids.
Job Requirements:
- Must be able to work a 5-day schedule, may include weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to provide documentation of authorization to work in the United States.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and detailed oriented.
- Must be professional in appearance and actions.
- Maintain good attendance record as well as good punctuality.
- Understands and adheres to company/safety policies, proper lifting techniques, and heat stress.
- Must be able to properly, efficiently, and safely work with landscape/irrigation hand tools, and gas powered equipment.
- Must be able to read scaled landscape/irrigation construction plans, detail notes and specifications.
- Must be able to identify commonly used plants, trees and turf types in the area and their watering needs.
- Must be able to perform measurements and material calculations on site.
- Must pass a criminal background check
- If driving for the company, must have and maintain a valid state issued driver’s license as well as clear driving record.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend training and safety meetings and apply the subject matter to day to day task.
- Follow directions given by Irrigation Project Manager/Sales Consultant.
- Work as part of a team.
- Always represent the company’s best interest, maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
- Identify, correct or report work hazards on job sites to Project Manager.
- Must be able to safely inspect, perform preventative maintenance, and operate trencher, mini excavator, skid steer, Georgia buggies, backhoe loader, mini skid steers and small engine power equipment.
- Execute lock out / tag out procedures on small equipment and earth moving equipment.
- Properly excavate, back fill and compact trenches.
- Cut and glue PVC pipe and fittings.
- Run and connect irrigation wire.
- Safely load and secure pipe and irrigation parts for transport in company work trucks.
- Install, program, trouble shoot irrigation controllers/system and wire tracing.
- Layout and install, mainline, lateral line, irrigation wire, sprinkler heads, drip hose, fittings, adjust nozzles and spray patterns on different types of sprinkler heads.
- Install double check valve, isolation valve, wye strainer, master valve, per plan by local and state ordinance.
- Red-line as-built on irrigation plans.
- Train and assist Leadman/Labor in irrigation methods and tasks.
- Lead and direct crew member activities and work sequencing.
- Provide backup to Laborers and Leadman.
- Manage budgeted man hours per job.
- Communicate equipment, labor, material requests, and follow direction given by Irrigation Manager.
- Communicate and coordinate work with other trades on site.
- Complete daily progress reports, time sheets and plant inventory sheets.
- Assist with accident and incident reports.
- Sequence and execute irrigation construction plans.
- Identify utility line locations at job sites before digging.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
